Its seems that Ray Jordan would be more than happy to forget the winter blues with a glass of Plantagenet Red Wine.
In a recent tasting published in The West Australian Fresh Magazine, Ray Jordan declared that the Plantagenet Hazard Hill Shiraz, Plantagenet Cabernet Sauvignon and Plantagenet Shiraz were all in his Top 100 Red Wines for Winter.
2007 Plantagenet Hazard Hill Shiraz
A medium bodied easy drinking shiraz from the Great Southern. Has more weight that the 2006 with a lifted scented fragrance and soft generous palate structure.
2007 Plantagenet Mt Barker Cabernet Sauvignon
Winemaker John Durham knows a thing or two about making classy cabernet. This is a cracker, choc full of Great Southern flesh and opulence but with real structure and inner core strength to support extended cellaring. It’s still quite firm and restrained by with further ageing will emerge as one of the best.
A beauty.
2007 Plantagenet Mt Barker Shiraz
This is right up there with the finest yet from this historic producer. Warm savoury spicy aromas create a compelling complex bouquet. Beautiful savoury and ever so slightly earthy palate with ripe tannins, perfectly worked oak and sumptuous fruit.
Great cellaring potential.
