Plantagenet Wines
Wyjup The name Wyjup is the aboriginal name for the area, and the vineyard is situated on Springs Road Denbarker some 40 kms South West of Mount Barker. Wyjup was one of 42 War Service Land Settlement Farms in the area known as Denbarker.

Until 1970, the farm was used solely for sheep and cattle grazing. In 1971, Tony Smith planted 4 hectares of Riesling. In 1972, 3.5 hectares of Shiraz were added and in subsequent years 5.5 hectares of Cabernet, a further 3.5 hectares of Riesling and 2.5 hectares of Chardonnay were added. The vineyard is still the backbone of the Mount Barker range with quality consistent fruit arriving at the winery every year at vintage.
