Luke was raised on a family farm in Harvey in the Great Southern. After completing a Bachelor of Science in Oenology and Viticulture at Curtin University of Technology he travelled to Europe and the United States of America to gain some very valuable international wine making experience before returning to WA to pursue his career and passion for winemaking.
Luke has worked vintages in several Western Australian wineries before taking his first assistant winemaker position in the Great Southern Wine Region at Forest Hill Winery in early 2012 to take up a Senior Winemaker position with Rockcliffe Winery working with Coby Ladwig to craft some of the regions' most awarded wines.
"What a great opportunity to work with an established industry leading winery with a very strong viticultural and winemaking reputation. I am looking forward to being involved in all aspects of the winemaking process in this role and am excited to head a very talented wine making team."
Growing up in Perth, Chris developed a keen interest in wine during a number of years spent working in the wine retail environment. At age 26, Chris decided to head down to Margaret River to study winemaking at Curtin University, graduating three years later as dux of the class of 2008. During this time Chris cut his teeth as a cellar hand with a number of local producers before moving into a winemaking role with Houghton Wines. Whilst with Houghton Chris also took the opportunity to complete northern hemisphere vintages in Oregon (USA) and Champagne. On returning to Australia, Chris worked for six months as a winemaker in Tasmania before joining the team at Plantagenet Wines.
New Zealand born Jarred Whinham began experimenting with fermentation out of curiosity before formalizing his interests via a wine production degree in 1995. Jarred worked in the New Zealand wine industry for a number of years before departing on a veritable world tour of wine regions to gain experience with many wine styles and techniques. Jarred studied and worked in the German region of Pfalz for four years, during which time he also completed an exchange vintage in Burgundy. This created a passion for Pinot noir that led Jarred to work vintages in Oregon USA, Mornington Peninsula Australia, Central Otago and Hawkes Bay NZ and Margaret River Australia, amongst others. He has worked for a number of wineries including Jacques Lurton, Olssens, Tucks Ridge, Mystery Creek and the Winemaking Tasmania group.
Jarred recently joined Plantagenet Wines as Assistant Winemaker for the 2015 vintage.
